the Scaries

The Scaries are a scatter of black rock islets roughly four miles off Saltwick, where the fjord opens onto open water and the fishing was once good. Dead sea life, lost boats, and a low wind-borne sound associated with their older name, the singing rocks, have made them feared by Saltwick's fishers. During the party's crossing, the sound rose through the hull beneath the swell and three frost-crusted, iron-tagged eels attacked in the narrow channels.
