Privacy policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
Longrest turns a recording of a tabletop game into a written recap with pictures. This policy says what we collect to do that, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted. Longrest LLC runs Longrest. Write to hello@longrest.ink with any question about your data.
What we collect
- Your email address
- To sign you in with a link, to tell you when a recap is ready if you ask us to, and to reach you if you join the waitlist. We do not send marketing email.
- Recordings you upload
- Your browser trims silence and compresses the audio before it reaches us, where the device supports it. We delete the recording once the recap is written.
- Transcripts and recaps
- The transcript of the recording, or the text you paste in instead, and everything written from it: recaps, scene pictures, and the wiki of characters, places and quests.
- What players tell us about their characters
- Through a party link, a player can give a character name, their own name, a description and a background. A player's own name is only shown to the campaign's owner and never written into a recap.
- Your IP address
- To limit how often one address can sign in, upload or generate. We hold it in a counter for at most an hour and do not store it with your account.
- Counts of what happens
- How often a shared recap is opened and how often a button on it is pressed, with no record of who opened or pressed it. For each recap we write we also record which model ran and what it cost, not what it was sent.
How we use it
To transcribe your recordings, write and illustrate your recaps, keep your campaign's wiki, show it to the people you share it with, and keep the service working and affordable.
To improve recaps, we sometimes write a session again with a different prompt or model and compare the results. Those comparisons are only seen by us and are deleted with the session.
We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use your recordings or recaps to train AI models.
Who else handles it
We use these services to run Longrest. Each receives only what its job needs, under its own terms for business customers.
| Service | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Hosts the website | Every request, including your IP address |
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and file storage | Your email address, recordings, transcripts, recaps and pictures |
| Groq | Transcription | Your recordings |
| OpenAI | Writing recaps and drawing pictures | Transcripts, campaign details and character descriptions |
| Anthropic | Writing and checking recaps, and keeping names consistent | Transcripts and campaign details |
| Inngest | Running each recap as a background job | Transcripts and recaps while the job runs |
| Upstash | Limiting how often one address can make requests | Your IP address |
| Resend | Sending email | Your email address and the message |
We may switch transcription to Deepgram, AssemblyAI or OpenAI, and would then send your recordings there instead. These services are mostly in the United States, so your data may be processed there.
Who can see your campaign
Your campaign is private until you share it. You choose each of these:
- Publishing a session gives it a link that anyone holding it can read, without an account. The link shows a preview picture when pasted into a chat. Unpublish to turn the link off.
- Readers you approve can read every published session and the wiki. They cannot change anything. You can see their nicknames and remove them.
- A party link lets players add their characters without an account. Anyone holding it can submit to your campaign.
We may feature a campaign on our front page as an example. We only do this with its owner's permission, and the whole campaign is then public.
How long we keep it
- Recordings: deleted once the recap is written.
- Recordings waiting on credit: kept for 30 days, then deleted if the session was not written.
- Recaps, pictures and the wiki: kept until you delete them. Each picture keeps its five latest versions.
- Your account: kept until you ask us to delete it.
- Waitlist addresses: kept until you are invited or ask us to remove yours.
When you delete a session or a campaign, its text, pictures and recording are removed. We keep a note that something was deleted, with how much, and your credit history, without the content.
Your choices
- Delete a session or a whole campaign from its page at any time.
- Download a campaign from its page, as files you can keep.
- Correct anything in a recap or the wiki by editing it.
- Write to hello@longrest.ink to see what we hold about you, to have your account and everything in it deleted, or to come off the waitlist. We will answer within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights over your data. Write to us to use them, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember an invitation while you sign in to accept it. Your browser also stores your light or dark choice, the sidebar's layout, the order of your sessions and any upload left unfinished, so they are there next time. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
Children
Longrest is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us theirs, write to hello@longrest.ink and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change affects what we do with data you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
